Are you a first home buyer?

If your answer is yes, did you know that the Queensland State Government offers first home buyers significant grants. We have all the info, so read on and find out you are eligible.

What is the first home owners grant?

The FHOG is a state government initiative to help first home owners get into their new home sooner.

The first home could be a home, unit, townhouse or apartment, but it must be completely new and can’t have been sold as a residential property before, making it the perfect opportunity to build your new PJ Burns Builder home, and create a space that it truely your own.

What is the value of the first home owners grant?

The value of the grant depends on your contract date. For contracts dated 1st July or later, the current grant is $15,000.

Keep in mind, for older contracts that were dated from 1st July 2016 – 30th June 2018, or October 2012 – 30 June 2016, the grant is $20,000.

The FHOG is a one-off payment, and you must apply for the grant within 1 year of your new home being completed.

A common topic of discussion during the preliminary design stages when building a new home is around creating a home that is kid friendly. We have a ideas for you to consider that will make your home comfortable, stylish and durable..

Your kitchen design

If space allows, a butler’s pantry is a great way to take advantage of additional cabinetry and bench space for those busy, before school mornings

If your floor plan is a more compact design, a butlers cupboard is a great addition, and offers a place to keep all the gear (toaster, kettle, juicer, bread, etc), leaving your kitchen space free of clutter

We are passionate about Green Living, sustainable architecture and thoughtful design in our homes, and understand the benefits to be gained from a more sustainable approach to everyday living by protecting and maintaining our natural environment.

The reduction (or prevention where possible) of waste, as well as recycling of materials on construction sites is very important to us. After all, the best environmental and cost-effective solution for reducing waste in our industry is to reduce the amount of waste created.

Pre-Construction Actions

The design stage in an important part of our waste management program. We consider what excess materials are likely to be generated and focus on how the generation of those excess materials can either be avoided of the material can be diverted from landfill

Onsite Waste Management

We are proud to have been working along side local family owned business Chilli Bins for many years, who only use Green Star approved Resource Recovery Centres to assure that we are all doing our part in waste diversion from landfills by 85% of material collected.

Our Construction Supervisors are doing their part with site waste management by following PJ Burns Builder’s waste management plan, coordinating the timing, placing and quality of delivery, avoiding ordering of excess materials, returning packaging where possible, and ensuring the skip bins are placed in locations that are easy for site staff to use the waste facilities.

Undertaking site waste audits to monitor how waste types and quantities to continually look to implement the best practices, is a very important part of our recycling process.
