One of the most exciting parts of building your new home is selecting your design & style. For some people this comes really easy & others it can be a little more difficult. Whichever side of the fence you sit on, we have a team of experts here to guide you through the process.
One of the biggest styles on trend at the moment & being showcased all over social media is the Hamptons Style, which can be influenced by our coastal ‘beach vibe’ or hinterland ‘cottage themed’ surroundings & lifestyle.
There are a few key design features emerging in our clients homes who are opting for the Hamptons Style, as you can see in our 2017 QMBA Multi Award Winning Home, which features high ceilings, oversized rooms, wide timber look vinyl-plank flooring & plenty of texture.

If Hamptons is your style preference, then opt for a soft natural colour palette. Make your selection in mostly whites and a muted colour palette & limit features (although they can make a statement). When choosing your feature, head toward the warm grey, navy or duck egg blue tones, but be cautious how much colour you do use so you don’t take away from the room’s light and airy mood.

When decorating your new PJ Burns Builder, Hamptons home, consider using large oversized dining tables and lounges paired with natural fibers, such as a statement wicker or rattan feature chair or a sisal rug to ground the room.

To complete your Hamptons Style home & tie it all together, a standout mirror or feature pendant light fitting is a must. Just don’t forget the french linen!

We caught up with our Interior Designer & Colour Consultant, Amanda Burns who is currently in the preliminary design stages of building her new family home and is opting for a Hamptons style, with a country twist. Amanda describes her feelings toward the Hamptons Style as.. ‘I love how the Hamptons Style is effortlessly stylish, the warmth in the colour tones & texture from nature are homely, the designs are open, and encourage natural light & breeze.
